A cargo plane crashed in Vilnius this morning

At 5.31 a.m. this morning, a report was received that an explosion and fire had occurred in Žirnių Street in Vilnius. It turned out that a cargo plane had crashed and a residential house caught fire. According to initial data, firefighters rescued three victims from the wreckage of the plane and extracted one dead person.

12 people were evacuated from the dwelling house. The two-storey house and the wreckage of the plane were burning in open flames.

The fire was extinguished by firefighters who arrived in six fire trucks (engines) and a water tanker. A rescue coordination headquarters has been set up at the scene. Police officers and airport staff are also deployed.

At 7.33 a.m. fire was brought under control and individual fire extinguishments were carried out.
