Objectives and functions

The main objectives of the Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania are the following: 

• organize activities of the state fire supervision;
• within the scope of its competence, organize and manage operations relating to fire fighting, rescue of people and property and mitigation of the consequences of fire;
• within the scope of its competence, manage activities of the civil protection system, coordinate implementation of emergency prevention, plan the national preparedness in order to implement tasks of civil protection system in the event of an emergency.
