Team of Lithuanian Firefighters Won Gold Medals in FireFit Championship

The team of strongest firefighters returned from the European Championship, which took place in Germany on 7–10 September 2023. In the team relay event, the team members won 1st place (timing: 1:09.98). According to the team leader Mr Andrius Ašmontas, Chief of the 2nd Fire Brigade of Šiauliai Fire and Rescue Board, the team went to the championship with a fighting spirit, well prepared and expecting good results. The team relay event resulted in winning gold medals to Mr Andrius Ašmontas, Mr Rokas Lindenis, Mr Romualdas Vilimas, Mr Jaroslav Višnevski and Mr Lukas Leonavičius.

Other Lithuanian firefighters were also successful during the Championship. The second mixed Lithuanian team (Ms Dovilė Gideikaitė, Mr Karolis Gražinis, Mr Remigijus Balčiūnas, Mr Karolis Laukutis and Mr Marius Gasparėnas) took 3rd place in the mixed relay category.

In the tandem category, Mr Gražinis and Mr Vilimas were high-scoring by achieving the best result (1:24.28) and won 1st place.

Other team members also achieved good positions. In the tandem event category Mr Ašmontas and Mr Lindenis took 4th place, Mr Laukutis and Mr Gasparėnas took 7th place, Mr Balčiūnas and Mr Leonavičius took 14th place. In the mixed tandem event, Ms Gideikaitė and Mr Višnevski came very close to the medals, taking 4th place. In the individual ranking (18–29 years category) Mr Leonavičius took 2nd place, Mr Višnevski took 3rd place. In the women‘s category, Ms Gideikaitė took 3rd place, while Mr Lindenis was 3rd in the 30-39 years category and 4th in the overall standings.

On 3–8 October 2023, the team of the strongest firefighters will take part in the World Championship of the Strongest Firefighter in Miami, the USA.
