Lithuanian Firefighters Defended Their Title As Baltic Champions
From July 31 to August 2, Tõrva, Estonia, hosted not only a town festival, but also “Toughest Firefighter Alive” and “Firefighter Combat Challenge” in which firefighters competed for the title of the strongest firefighters in the Baltic States.
The firefighters tested their strength in individual runs, tandem runs and relay runs. The Lithuanian national team won championship titles and once again proved to be the strongest in the Baltic States.
Six firefighters competed in the women’s individual runs. Ms Evelina Litvin became the Baltic champion, Ms Regina Bartkutė took second place, and Ms Mantė Kireilytė finished fourth.
48 athletes competed in the men’s individual runs. Mr Lukas Leonavičius was crowned the overall Baltic champion, while Mr Rokas Lindenis became vice champion.
Lithuanian firefighters also achieved excellent results in different age groups:
under 30 – champion Mr Danielius Vilimas, vice champion Mr Jaroslav Višnevski;
30–34 years old – champion Mr Lukas Leonavičius;
35–39 years old – champion Mr Rokas Lindenis, with Mr Karolis Gražinis and Mr Mantas Dūda taking fifth and sixth place;
40–44 age group – all podium places were won by Lithuanian representatives: Mr Andrius Ašmontas took first place, Mr Egidijus Krivickas took second place, and Mr Remigijus Balčiūnas took third place;
In the 45 and older age group, Mr Saulius Norušaitis became the champion.
In the women’s team competition, Ms Evelina Litvin, Ms Mantė Kireilytė, and Ms Regina Bartkutė were crowned Baltic champions.
Mr Remigijus Balčiūnas and Mr Lukas Leonavičius won the men’s doubles event, while Mr Egidijus Krivickas and Mr Andrius Ašmontas were crowned champions in the 40 and older age group.
In the mixed tandem runs, Mr Karolis Gražinis and Ms Mantė Kireilytė took first place, while Mr Danielius Vilimas and Ms Evelina Litvin took second place.
In the men’s team competition, the Lithuanian team, composing of Mr Danielius Vilimas, Mr Lukas Leonavičius, Mr Rokas Lindenis, Mr Mantas Dūda, and Mr Karolis Gražinis, became the Baltic champions.
After tallying the results of all runs, it became clear that Lithuanian firefighters became the Baltic champions for the second year in a row.
