Lithuanian representatives came back from Torun

Lithuanian firefighters’ team came back from Torun, Poland, where international “The FireFit Championships” took place on 25-26 June 2021. The Championship was attended by the strongest teams from Poland, Slovenia, Germany, Estonia and Ukraine.

Although preparation time for the competition was quite short, Lithuanian team returned home with good results and medals. According to team leader Mr Andrius Ašmontas, when you participate in the championship, you do not know what to expect, yet you can always test your strength.  This relay race was represented by Mr Andrius Ašmontas, Mr Modestas Mikolaitis, Mr Gintautas Samauskis, Mr Romualdas Vilimas and Mr Rokas Lindenis.

Individual starts for Lithuanian firefighters brought good personal results as well. Mr Modestas Mikolaitis took the 4th place, Mr Andrius Ašmontas took the 6th place. Mr Saulius Norušaitis, an employee from Joniškis Fire and Rescue Service, currently volunteering in Joniškis Municipal Fire and Rescue Service won the 1st place in the category over 45. Women's individual start was also successful for Ms Regina Bartkutė –  she took the 2nd place.

Mr Modestas Mikolaitis and Mr Rokas Lindenis took the 3rd place in the tandem race. In mixed tandems (man and woman) Mr Andrius Ašmontas and Ms Regina Bartkutė won the 2nd place. Summarizing the best three results of firefighters‘ individual starts, Lithuanian team (consisting of Mr Andrius Ašmontas, Mr Modestas Mikolaitis and Mr Gintautas Samauskis) took the 2nd place. Ms Regina Bartkutė, Mr Saulius Norušaitis, two Czechs and one German representative won the 1st place in team mixed race.

It was the first competition for Lithuanian firefighters‘ team after a break of almost two years.
