Lithuanian Firefighters Won Gold Medals in the World Championship
On 3–8 October 2023 Lithuanian firefighters team participated in the 2023 XXXII World Firefighter Challenge Championship, which was organized in Stuart, Florida, USA.
Lithuanian firefighters, who took part in the team relay, namely, Mr Andrius Ašmontas, Mr Lukas Leonavičius, Mr Rokas Lindenis, Mr Jaroslav Višnevski and Mr Romualdas Vilimas won gold medals.
Lithuanian participants also got gold medals in the best team category (personal best times combined). The fastest and strongest were Mr Leonavičius, Mr Lindenis, Mr Višnevski, Mr Vilimas and Mr Ašmontas.
In the mixed team relay, consisting of two women and three men, Lithuanian participants won bronze medals. The relay team consisted of Mr Karolis Gražinis, Ms Regina Bartkutė, Mr Remigijus Balčiūnas, Ms Dovilė Gideikaitė and Mr Marius Gasparėnas.
Ms Bartkutė brings home a great number of awards. She won 3rd place in the tandem race (over 40 age group) with Mr Gasparėnas (mixed tandem) and in the women's tandem with Ms Melanie Schonewald (Germany). In the individual category (over 40 age group) she won a bronze medal.
Mr Leonavičius won the prize in the absolute category for the first time at the World Championship. He was 3rd in the world.
In general, this is the 5th World Championship in which Lithuanian firefighters took part.
