Lithuanian Firefighters Took Part in the FIREFIT Championship in Wroclaw
On 23–24 June 2023, Lithuanian firefighters were chalking up successes at the “Toughest Firefighter“ Competition which took place in Wroclaw, Poland. In the team relay (Mr Rokas Lindenis, Mr Jaroslav Višnevski, Mr Andrius Ašmontas, Mr Romualdas Vilimas and Mr Lukas Leonavičius) won 1st place. In the best team category Lithuanian participants (Mr Rokas Lindenis, Mr Karolis Gražinis and Mr Lukas Leonavičius) also took 1st place, at the same time proving their three best personal results. In the same team category, other Lithuanian participants (Mr Remigijus Balčiūnas, Mr Jaroslav Višnevski and Mr Romualdas Vilimas) won 2nd place.
The final tandem category race resulted in winning 3rd place for Mr Andrius Ašmontas and Mr Rokas Lindenis. Mr Marius Gasparėnas and Mr Laimonas Kivilius won 2nd place in the tandem over 40 category. Ms Regina Bartkutė, Mr Laimonas Kivilius, Mr Remigijus Balčiūnas, Mr Marius Gasparėnas and Mr Karolis Gražinis took 3rd place in the mixed team relay. Ms Regina Bartkutė and teammates from European countries took 2nd place in the women team relay. She also won 2nd place in the women over 40 category.
According to team member Mr Andrius Ašmontas, success comes with a lot of effort. “Competition is considerable, but it helps us to improve and achieve better results. We went to Poland after the Lithuanian championship and we were well-prepared,“ – he said. “We are most satisfied with the team’s achievements and results,” Mr Ašmontas added.
