Delegation from National Headquarters of the State Fire Service of Poland is visiting Vilnius

On 25–27 October 2022, MG Andrzej Bartkowiak, Chief Commandant of the State Fire Service, BG Adam Konieczny, Deputy Chief Commandant of the State Fire Service and Col. Krzysztof Pietrasik, Deputy Director of the Cabinet of the Chief Commandant, are visiting the Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania (hereinafter – the Department). During the visit, the delegation from Poland and representatives from the Department discuss further cooperation possibilities and get acquainted with the activities of the State Fire and Rescue Service of Lithuania.

On 26 October 2022, the delegation visited the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania and met with Vice-minister Mr Vitalij Dmitrijev. During the meeting important civil protection questions were discussed not only at regional level, but also at the European level as well as sharing Poland’s experience while switching to centralized civil protection system.

In order to be better prepared for a potential nuclear and radiological accident bilateral exercises between fire and rescue services are also planned in the near future.

The delegation from National Headquarters of the State Fire Service of Poland also visited the Fire Fighters Training School and the Fire Research Centre. The guests had the opportunity to see how firefighters are trained, what are the conditions under which they learn, train and develop. Moreover, decontamination tents and equipment for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear emergency response were set up and demonstrated at the Fire Fighters Training School.

On 27 October 2022, the delegation will visit the Emergency Response Centre and the 6th Fire Brigade of Vilnius Fire and Rescue Board.
