BaltFloodCombat Steering Group Meeting Was Held in Lithuania
The annual Steering Group Meeting of BaltFloodCombat High Capacity Pumping Module (hereinafter referred as “the BFC”) took place in Palanga, Lithuania on 2–4 December 2024.
During the Meeting, the BFC Management Group has presented an overview of the BFC activities of 2024. The main events included a joint BFC Field Exercise which took place in Kaunas District, Lithuania, a visit to the Polish State Fire and Rescue Service to observe Poland High Capacity Pumping Module preparation for international Modex Field Exercise in Austria, Modex Table-Top Exercise in Portugal as well as other relevant issues related to the activities of the Module.
All previously mentioned activities are related to the development of the BFC, which was discussed and agreed upon during the last year’s Steering Group Meeting.
It is also important to note that during this year’s joint BFC Field Exercise in Kaunas District, a new element, namely, a high-capacity pump HFS HYDROSUB 450 with additional personnel from Šiauliai Fire and Rescue Board was involved.
The major outcome of the Steering Group Meeting is BFC 2025 Plan of Action, which has been accepted and signed by the Steering Group Members: the Deputy Directors of the Estonian Rescue Board, the State Fire Rescue Service of Latvia and the Fire and Rescue Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania.
Next year plan includes preparations for the upcoming international and table-top exercises, further development of the BFC, and purchase of new equipment and organizing seminars for the BFC members.
The Meeting was closed by handing over of the chairmanship to the representatives of the Latvian State Fire Rescue Service.
